How easy is it do you think, to create patches from scratch with the Ion?

I could get one for about $500 locally, and I wonder if that's a decent price...

Although I really dislike its look, but I only read good things about it.

Actually I'd like to ask all of you which of these VA-s is the most intuitive/easy to tweak synth?
