Yes. However,I have never had occasion to describe the GR Mp2nv as shrill. It's my #1 go to mic pre and usually it will work on most everything I've tried through it. Unfortunately I didn't have time to try the TLM 49 with any of my other pres or any other voices or instruments. Most importantly, this is only my opinion and the only other wisdom that I can add is that you should try it for yourself and let your ears decide.
