If you can get a good price I would definitely say that the 8's are worth having. I was given a pair by a friend who closed his personal studio and moved over a year ago and I find that they are useful (was going to trade them for the KRK V6's but found I actually liked the (much cheaper) Rokit better.
I have Dynaudio's that are my main near-fields but I do check things on the KRK's and get useful information. Stand alone they are not unpleasant (a bit of mid-range harshness but not crazy) and the 8's carry enough bass to use for most music styles. For the price their spatial imaging is the best I have heard.
