Studio Projects B1's and B3's totally rock on toms for recording. The B3 on the low tom is thunderous. Not in a sort of "good-for-the-money" sound, but in a great sound, period. We often run them through API's.

We have over 200 mics here and the B3 is now the go-to mic for floor tom on a lot of sessions.

The B1 is only $79 and the B3 is $159 – so if a drummer smacks one - big deal.
