I've seen the same thing. I discovered that IKM's Amplitube would start spewing hash. It would be a uniform 'shhhhhhhh' and the only way to get rid of it would be to close the plugin and open a new one.

I used to try to use the T-Racks compressor back in the day, and I'll say that even today it sounds good to my ears, but about half the time it makes really loud pops that will get right to the monitors, and it doesn't matter if the master fader is all the way down or not; the volume of the pops don't have anything to do with the fader. IKM said they had never heard of it, but I know of another case of the same thing happening.

So I've decided their code is f-ed up.
