I've worked with young boys and girls ages 10 to 16 and I find that their parents will either embarrass them or make them nervous, or be overbearing! But, it's pretty easy to get read one kids and what their personality is.
I don't record them any differently unless they are really shy about being in a booth or using headphones. If that's the case I'll keep them in the control room with me and their parents
