I remember.. being a little kid... I don't know how old but elementary school anyway... and in music class.. as they'd talk about the musical instruments out there.. I thought it was all so much bullshit.. cause it was like.. whatever was going on in music at the time.. it was as if there was a "we shant speak of that" kinda vibe about it.. or that's how I interpreted it.
But then they showed this picture of a guy or a girl.. with huge modular system.. behind them.. all around them... and that's when I knew... that was for me!!! Well that and electric guitar for sorta similar reasons.. I'm always the victim of my inner child.
I really didn't play with any synthesizers till I got to art school.. and got into the sound studio... it was all old crap that was not very inspiring to me.. but I was inspired by MIDI.. because I was hugely influence by Zappa and the idea of using computers to realize music that possibilities other wise not possible.
The first thing I got much into was Sample Cell, a Mirage.. Turbo Synth for making synth-e sounds.. but the sounds weren't really anything to great.
Years latter I'd finally put the money together for Cubase and a copy of Reaktor.. to run on my G3 350 Mac.. and yeah.. that was the first sorta synth I fell in love with.. though Reaktor probably doesn't count? After that it was probably Absynth?
