Keep in mind that it was 18 STEREO tracks, with the CPU meter reading between 50/65%, while running a bunch of Logic plugs. I probably could have added a few EXS's too, tee hee. Needless to say I have been extremely happy with the performance of my machine. Average track count would be around 12-18 mono tracks at once, and maybe twenty plugs, with an EXS or two still running. Plenty if your previous computer was a Pentium3 450mhz. It also fits into a back pack. Double tee hee!
As far as voices of EXS goes, I wouldn't really know. My autoload starts with 24 audio tracks, and 4 EXS tracks. When I have 4 EXS (or other synths) running I start bouncing, which forces me to commit. I am known to tweak endlessly. The important thing is that it is a rock soild system, and handles lots of music before it craps out. It's completely silent, and my girlfriend doesn't mind it being left on the coffee table. A win-win situation!
