Old thread, so I don't mind piping in even if I'm not 100% on-topic. I have no experience with the i5, but the m201 has recently become my first-try mic for everything. The pattern is pretty tight on it, so I also tend to mic a little further away with it because the sound changes so radically when close micing. Because the off-axis rejection is so good, it also tends to sound tighter when further out than a lot of wider pattern mics.
