Neve.

Neve 33609(the original one's though not the new J's).

Its one of my favorites on the mix, drumsub and sometimes background vocals.

Its not cheap though, we are talking $4500 and up!!!

I would have suggested the Vari-Mu but it imparts a lot of character and I don't feel its as versatile, but it could also be used in this fashion.

i'd like to hear some gearsltut talk about this piece of gear.

a friend has this piece of gear that looks identical but does not say neve or anything on the front. on the side [i think] is the only place that it says anything, and it only has NEVE and a sireal #, no model #. what does that mean?

how much should i pay for this [if it is in fact a 33609]?

how does it compare to the VARI-MU?
I think this quote was from me?

The unit you are looking at is the original one.

How much should you pay? Well that's more on the guy selling it isn't?

I like it because it has the color plus that "Neve something".

On the 2 buss you just have to do a slight ''hi-boost" with an EQ to make up for the color.

It is different than the Vari-Mu. There are certain instances where I liked it better than MU on the 2 buss, but I could go the other way also. It is also great on a drumsub(real meaty).

My personal favorite on a 2 buss is the Focusrite Blue 230, sorta a clean 33609, but a little more versatile.
