This may sound crazy... DBX 118! I know you can find them and if you get a good line leveler, they give you this cool retro compression '70's sound. Great on guitars, me on a Gibson 335 Vox AC30 DBX 118...ohhh la la.
I even heard that Oasis used them on their lst album...just thought I'd pass along a good new secret weapon.
