No worries. I understand your point, which is why I attached the raw unprocessed file so you can get a ruff idea of what it sounds like all on its own with no processing.
I honestly could have used the track without the LDC added but just chose to combine the R44 with the LDC for aesthetic purposes. Had this been a jazz track I would have used the R44 alone but this needs to cut through on the radio. I think it's really no different than how folks speak very highly of the Royer R121 but usually mix it with with a 57 etc. when tracking electric guitars. I certainly wouldn't mic guitar cabs with just a single R121. It doesn't take away from the mic in any way though.
Also remember, I only paid $40 bucks for the mic and this post was initially in support of an earlier post [in this thread] saying that these
cheap Chinese ribbon mics are actually better than many seem to realize. So heck yeah...I'm happy with the mic. I certainly didn't expect it to be this good. Like I said, I just wanted to get into some DIY'ing and experimenting without losing $$$.
They are just very useable, IME but I guess I need to say YM
