With all due respect and not to sound like an ingrate-isn't that clip (very nice like I said) a bit ambiguous regarding this thread? By that I mean using the LDC as well? How are we to know what the quality of R44 is? Apparently it didn't stand on it's own? Are you happy with the R40?

No worries. I understand your point, which is why I attached the raw unprocessed file so you can get a ruff idea of what it sounds like all on its own with no processing.

I honestly could have used the track without the LDC added but just chose to combine the R44 with the LDC for aesthetic purposes. Had this been a jazz track I would have used the R44 alone but this needs to cut through on the radio. I think it's really no different than how folks speak very highly of the Royer R121 but usually mix it with with a 57 etc. when tracking electric guitars. I certainly wouldn't mic guitar cabs with just a single R121. It doesn't take away from the mic in any way though.

Also remember, I only paid $40 bucks for the mic and this post was initially in support of an earlier post [in this thread] saying that these cheap Chinese ribbon mics are actually better than many seem to realize. So heck yeah...I'm happy with the mic. I certainly didn't expect it to be this good. Like I said, I just wanted to get into some DIY'ing and experimenting without losing $$$.

They are just very useable, IME but I guess I need to say YM................you know the drill.
