I'm still stumped.
Perhaps there's a problem with Cubase. I had my external comp in a FX channel with the kick and snare going to it, it was going great. When I tried to do it again (I had briefly moved the external comp to other things to try them out), it was all phasey. The ping didn't change a thing even though it was sent (I saw it in the comp's meter). Sometimes after a ping, the delay amount on the External send shows a change, other times it does not. I've had it work great with the delay at both 0 and 17.01ms (same routing, same comp, etc)
Things are fine with reverbs etc because a little extra delay don't do much to a wet FX return, but I REALLY want to use compressors on drums etc where phasing is a real issue. I'm just getting fed up with the inconsistancies.
Is digital always this much of a pain in the ass? It seems that whenever I use digital, it takes just as long as analog because there's always some little quirk that has to be dealt with.
