I have an older scratched up Unidyne 111 model sm57 that I got from a pawn shop in Chicago about 5 years ago.
On a testing day, I put a small marker dot on the grill cloth of my speaker cabinet, and played samples of guitar through that Unidyne 111 and then carefully swaping out a shiney new 57.....
Not a night and day difference, but a little less harsh in the mids, I liked it better.
The Unidyne 111 gets the 1st call now.
