I know there's no definitive answer, and I've searched the forum and read about both mics, but just wanted to throw out this question....

I just got an 002r, upgraded from an 001.
I record at home, one track at a time. The mics I normally use are 57 on guitar, re20 on vox (that makes up 85% of what I do) and I use my ntk for acoustic guitar, double miking the guitar cab, occaisional backing vox.

I'm just wondering if anyone has used either of the two mics I outlined, and if they made a dramatic step up from what I described here.

Also, is there a place in NYC that will rent me several mics, and let me buy the one I like most?
