You'll notice it when your DA clips. With the Cubase master buss it's pretty hard to get your DA clipping. I guess the build in limiter takes the reconstruction of the signal into account and makes sure the DA doesn't clip. (so why would you need a meter?)

Leaving some room, -3dBFS or -6dBFS on the master buss can't be bad either
