thanks for the replies.

since i'm on a mac/logic, it'd be great to look for something native on mac.. preferrably w/ AU..

if you read the threads, you'll see that even if meters are hitting below -6dB, the non-float plugs can at times get overs @ intersamples. i just want to be on the safe side.

this is the time i wish i knew enough about programming to build one myself.
