I like to run a P-Bass thru a Marshall half stack and a B-15 at the same time and mix the result. Seems like it always mixes best in the air, like into one mic a little ways out into the room. Might take a DI if I were doing that, though.
You could get close that way. I think you need the 12" or even a 10" voiced for guitar to get the top right, and then a cab voiced for bass to maintain the low end. Or not as the case may be.
If I were doing the first deal, I might be tempted to bury a sawtooth wave synth way down in there.
