The Fearn normally provides around, or just under, 60dB gain. You can ask for an upward gain adjustment of 6dB either when ordering or as a (more expensive) modification.
I'm glad you asked about the pre I prefer for ribbons, which is the Daking (I have the Mic-Pre IV). I've used and liked others (Focusrite Red is great for ribbons, imo), but the Daking is forward, present, bright but not harsh, so it compliments the 'darker' sounding ribbons very well.
