I had the same problem. I no longer have the problem, here's what I did:
open the Motu Audio Setup Utility and tinker with the clock source from SMPTE to internal. Cycle the power on the ultralight. This seemed to end my issues. For the record, I have a MacBook Pro 2ghz.
