The word 'engineer' is thrown around vaguely. I've always thought that no one is really an engineer unless you studied some form of engineering at university. If you were a real engineer you could walk out the door and get employment for $80k minimum a year.

However, I think the older record cutters are definitely engineers. That is a specialized skill and really does demonstrate an understanding of basic sound principles, physics, and mechanical engineering. Try doing that in your bedroom!
