I agree that the spatial dimensions on the mixes are a little odd. The vocals are fighting for space — they're about 20% back from the front of the image when they should be right in front.
Overall, there's an odd little pocket to the left where you've put the keyboards on "Stupid Girl" and the electric guitar in the 2nd song. It makes me tilt my head to the left in an uncomfortable way. Overall the middle feels deprived and there's too much distracting action on the sides of the image.
I would get on those faders and pan pots and put in a few hours to get the instruments to share the space perfectly. For instance, the snare rim in song #1 doesn't belong with the kick — it's out fighting with the singer and the keyboards, which also need to come down after their intro. The drummer's toms are on two sides of the image, which means that a fill goes cross-country. Ride those faders a while longer and get the image unified, I'd say.
Also, is there a backing vocal on song #1? Should it be subliminal? It's a little frustrating as-is. |
What he said! I have nothing to add really, spot on.
