I wouldn't be so sure...I too figured the Germanium would be my "guitar" pre and was pleasantly surprised to find it absolutely kills on vocals. I haven't used the LTD-1, but I can compare the Germanium to a Mk I Channel and I vastly prefer the former. Further, I have been amazed at how nothing I have tracked so far has needed much if any eq OR compression.
