Years ago I had a Meek VC6q. I still miss that box sometimes. Its pre allowed super deep sub bass that I rarely hear on my "good" preamps (Pacifica, API, etc.). The only thing not cool is the EQ was backward - highs on the lefts. Just saw $225 used.
