the bottom of the mic in the photo appears like it has a standard screw on type thing at the bottom of it, like an mxl 990 or similar mics. you could get the mount that fits those and it would probably hold it better. there's two different mounts for the 990, I'm not talking about the spider, I'm talking the other one, looks like a little cup that holds the bottom of the mic, and the screw inserts inside it.

I was just going to suggest that, as I have TWO MXL microphones that I use and they are great. None of the new stuff, and I want nothing to do with the USB microphones, I don't need no cheap ADC converting the audio before it hits my board, which is analog, duh
anyway. I still don't understand how the damage prevents you from attaching it to the original mount. Isn't that what you're doing in the first picture?
