In my low budget days i have done both <mic stand cymbal stand/ cymbal stand mic stand> but you get a lot of low frequency coming through a cybal stand into you're recording. I'd recomend buying the stand you need and having a good one around for the future.....
If you are going to do this tape a lot of tape or foam around the feet to minimize the transfer into the mic or weigh down the mic stand so you can extend the boom all the way.
A good K+M stand with a good solid boom will cost 50-75 dollars.
I wouldn't buy anything less.
