Quantize is used for adjusting midi notes to the nearest subdivision or auto-adjusting them after recording. Quantizing sometimes has a more options in terms of rhythm i.e. different grooves, swings, etc. that usually don't make much sense for snap mode. Quantizing is a feature that is both for auto-adjusting recorded objects or it is feature you apply to selected objects or midi notes. Quantizing is sometimes also used about adjusting audio to match a midi template (=groove templates or similar words).
