After much research, I recently purchased a C*rillon AC1...expensive? Sure, but after problems with local-builds before I was after something well-built, customised, and reliable.
The AC1 had a RAM problem which eventually led to a return and new RAM; Carill*n were real quick with this and I'm currently really happy with the set up and feel reassured I made a good choice. Also, I have phone/email back-up and varying forms of guarantee.
When we were diagnosing the initial problem I needed to tahe a look inside and I can report that the cabling and components looked as neat and tidy as a well-regarded outboard unit. The case is solid and it's so quiet that I thought the fans weren't working.
E-mail communications (with C*rillon) can be erratic but I guess they're quite busy and when it's an important issue they have been on the ball.
