I've been using Melodyne but now I find Waves Tune much more flexible and underrated. Concerning transparency, it's a draw but Tune is easier to manipulate because you can draw everything with a pencil etc etc
In both cases, you can make a so so singer sounds great but you can't have really natural results with a singer badly out of tune. Unless you're willing to spend hours on it!
Oh, and what I don't like in Tune is the huge latency! it often exceeds Pro Tools HD long ADC when I have other effects on the same channel... Melodyne is better for that!
Anyway, my personal choice is Tune but both can save a session! You should try them and see which workflow is best for you, you'll get pretty much the same results. Hope that helps.
