It might look dumb, but I think it is quite genius!
I live with 4 other people, all mac owners. In the center of our household we have an Apple Base Station connected to our broadband and also to a 500gb harddrive through it's USB port. Anyone who logs onto the base station can access the data or stream the media from that harddrive. This includes the aTv. With itunes home share turned on, anyone can stream a tune from someone else' itunes library.
We have even had multiple movies running at once, on the aTV and one a few mac computers.
I was impressed.
