The conundrum of a single rack space

Hi All,

given my predisposition for purchasing hardware musical equipment... I have attempted to establish limits by negotiating with myself that once my rack is full that's it "no more gear". Recently I realised that I had but one rack space free and this got me to thinking. Choosing to see this crisis as an opportunity I started the quest for the single rack space item that I absolutely needed and was delighted with my Yamaha FS1R purchase which fit nice and snuggly into the free space. As fate would have it, I was trolling ebay "just in case" and happened on a deal that was too good to pass up. It was one of those situations where noone would bid because the guy had 0 feedback so the price just sat there unmoving. I put in my low ball bid thinking "someone will snag this and I won't have to pay for it". To my surprise I am now the proud owner of an Access Virus Rack XL!

In keeping with my previous mandate of not exceeding the capacity of my rack, I studied the situation and worked out that my EMU Ultra Platinum sampler (3 rack spaces) could be moved up one space to make room but this would mean the Platinum would extend one space past the last space of my rack. Carefully considering this risk I agreed (with myself) that this was an acceptable risk and the Virus is now nestled comfortably in the rack.

Does anyone have any additional creative workarounds for extending rack space that I may continue to adhere to my policy of no more gear once the rack is full?

I look forward to your responses.
