Primarily a Saturation device? Saturation is mainly related to tape being overloaded--hence the name(oh crap..I said hence)
Saturation is a cause and distortion is the result. You cant have something
Just saturated as its a type of distortion.
Decap clips on every mode that I checked and that my friends is the very definition of distortion. Obviously saturation will also leave out some frequencies..mostly highs(like a sponge that holds no more water---hence the name saturated) insert gunshot--as I said hence again
