Anyway, being with a major and/or with a major promotion company, it's NOT as glamorous as it seems.. I unfortunately speak from direct experience.
For very very few artists that are treated well and really get the promotion and support there are hundreds that are treated like *shit*. I ditched it and went with a good independent.
If you're not a big star, major rarely do something good for you. Claim your way up the hard way and if you got balls you'll stick. Watch it tho', lotsa money will be needed at first
