It's not uncommon to use different mics on the same singer, depending on what the rest of the mix sounds like for the song being recorded. You need to play the voice with the instrumentation that goes with it. It's how the voice sits in the mix that's important, not how it sounds solo'd - unless you're producing a track with vocal and no musical accompaniment. For that voice without a music track, I'd try a MXL V67g, or the MXL 2003a (which is supposed to be a better version of the V67) but in a mix you might need a brighter mic.
