Priority one:

Early reflection points... the point on the side walls and ceiling halfway between your ears and the speaker on that side... when mixing...

... or when tracking, making sure you absorb early reflections between soundsource and mic.



After early reflection points, it's all diminishing returns, but I would venture a guess that your next greatest return would be trapping the corners.




I have a small, 11 foot square, completely problematic room, and saw a HUGE improvement with massive treatment. For around $600 including screws, lumber, etc, I covered every wall and the ceiling with at least 4 inches of mineral wool, and superchunked EVERY vertex in the room except for the ones that meet the floor.

WORLD of difference. Took about a week.
