He isn't wrong, but he also isn't changing anything by speaking out. The people who are going to steal will steal, and the honest people will pay.
There's really no excuse for earning money from the plugs and stealing them. If your business can't afford Waves and the WUP program, and you see Waves plugins as necessary to producing good music, you can't afford to be in business.
Part of Waves' marketing scheme is their pricing. By inflating their price point, the also inflate the opinions of their products. In our society, expensive = good. Dropping the price would simply reduce the perceived quality of their product- not exactly a great strategy.
