| Funny thing - I ALWAYS preffer the sound of my hardware 48bit double precision L2 over the native L2 /pc/CUBASE SX2. I use the hardware one as the last thing on the 2bus chain.
Did lots of testing - aplying the L2 on the native environment over a 24bit file, passing a 24 bit file through the hardware unit, both having dither for 16bit (clients preffer to master stuff in-house). I think the 48bit sounds less harsh and has more depth . And I really like using the hardware unit having the 2 channels unlinked, with autorelease on both channels.
