Actually, by using the two stereo pairs together, you can control the output for each of two "tones" in a "patch,"
whether in split mode or in dual mode. In other words, you don't have to be in split mode to make use of this function.
But I don't have enough inputs as it is, so I generally only use the "left stereo" (far left) and "right stereo" (far right) outputs (and the only reason I use stereo outs at all is because of the onboard chorus effect*, which is a stereo effect).
* edit: just to anticipate the inevitable response: yes, I know, you can make great patches on the MKS-70 without the chorus effect.
