I get both for less than 1300$ and that's dif from 2 g's. Ah and both new with 3 year warranty.
I am sure you will be happy with those two.

All I am offering readers is the pro's and cons of both options from personal experience, many people read these threads for years and go in based on the title of the thread,(that is how it comes up in search engines, you type in "firewire mixer" and this thread pops up) so although it is possible and good for us to move on from that those who haven't read yet are not afforded that advantage, until after they read the thread.

I have had rack pre's/converters(M-audio) and a soundcraft mixer and found routing, at least for larger projects, much easier in a unit that has what the ONYX 1620 has to offer, my only regret to be honest is that Soundcraft did not have anything comparable at the time since some of my warmest sounding pieces came off that set up.

These are all things for people to consider, it's a trade off of sorts for convenience of having everything you need for 16 tracks in one device, it does not effect my set up since I have so many quality rack pre's (trident, Sytek, Rane, Joe Meek to name a few) but it may make a difference for someone that is going to rely on the board pre's.

Now that you have the devices the best thing you can do for future readers is give them your take on them and how you are utilizing them so they can take advantage of your unique viewpoint and how these two work together on your system. (insert sound clip here )

keep shinin
