Taye drums are pretty good. I would have to agree that the hardware is less than great. I am pretty sure that they are made by (or the company is owned by) the same guy who made drums for the Canadian drum company Ayotte (I think his name is Ray Ayotte). Anyway, the drums themselves have a pretty solid build, and for the money, they sound pretty good. Best thing to do would be to rent some and record them for yourself and see if you dig them.
