First off, I love your room. I'd consider modifying the desk. Have you thought about breaking it into 3 pieces and separating them front to back? Have you tried any absorption and/or diffusion between the soffit monitors and the desk? (other than the blanket) I'm trying a couple of home-made LCD monitor stands that will tuck the LCDs down behind the desk when I want the best possible sound because my room is small and my LCD is large. I've also made abfusers to mount on the back of the LCDs that help. Have you tried any absorption or diffusion at the early reflection points between the soffit monitors and the desk?
