Haven't used the daking but have been using a robbie for about 4 years. My experience with the robbie has been great. It is a cleaner pre, which to me makes it a tad more versatile than an mid-y api type pre. The Robbie almost sounds "hi fi" to my ears. It seems to like fet mics and is definitely a winner in the vox department imo. Despite what I have read online, I have been able to turn the pad on and crank the robbie to get some very mean sounds and I happen to like the way it looks...but thats just me.
