I've only looked inside 2 of them(the Averill wasn't one of them) and the AMS-Neve reissue.
The 2 were different but they offered more features as well.
One to me doesn't sound like the real thing at all.
It actually sounds closer to an AB Neve mic pre.
To me a lot of the Neve mic pre sound is in the transformer and the caps and this one didn't have them the same.
The other had the vibe thing down(Neve sound) it just lacked some of the size.

The transformer issue has long been put to rest, and basically all new units, including the AMS & the clones, are using the same transformers. |
My point is that the AMS-Neve reissue is a reissued Neve 1073 not a clone.
They own the rights and the patents.
If Brent Averill uses the parts(which i am pretty sure he does since i sold Avedis in the past some API and Neve transformers)it doesn't make it a Neve, but a Brent Averill 1073 0r 1084 as he calls it.
