The super thin rap vocal is something very recent to the daw age-lack of skills new engineers. This is one of the main reasons people on forums can't get their vocals to stand strong in the mix.
In the past, I've recorded Nikki & Wayne on Sony(nikki only), U87, and the Blue Bottle. Jae Mills on U87. Avalon 737 or BAE 1073 | Sounds like the usually suspects. I personally really like the sound of those vocals I think they are up close and warm. I was wondering if they changed mic setups with each take or if they used the same chain the whole time. I also wondered if mic placement changed that much per take and if they were all back to back or done on separate sessions.. any info would be great! |
