You think you're safe carrying a gun... So when you pull your gun on the one guy who yelled the threat, and his 3 buddies drop you right after, who's safe? 2 dead guys isn't 'safe' to me, it's a statistic. Sure, if you meet a guy one on one in a dark alley, you might be ok... But then, what if you get twitchy and suspicious? Shoot a guy who ISN'T carrying a weapon because you'd rather be judged by 12.... You gonna be able to live with that?
Maybe they're all right about not understanding the culture being from crazy rural backwards Canada

... but all I know is that from about 10 minutes of searching on google, I can see that the US has between 2 and 3 times the number of gun deaths (for all categories total, accidental, suicide and homicide) of Canada and other countries with stronger gun laws and a different cultural attitude towards guns.
I think the guy that runs away, ducks into a back yard and calls the cops is better off than the guy who gets one shot off from his concealed carry before 3 guys kill him.
