I use 4 EH preamps and love them. Here is what they are used for, when recording my 1 man band(drums, guitar, harp, vocals, all at once).

AKG 414 on vocals and harp in a rack

AKG 414 on fender deluxe reverb reissue

2 - Oktava MC-012 - one on the snare side of the kit, and 1 on the bass drum side.

You can hear alot of songs using this format at the link below. Remember though, I am doing this all live, and making up the words and music as I go along. There is no overdubing and very little eq'ing. I add some reverb, and take a bit of bass off the guitar. The vocal/harp and drum kit tracks, have no eq'ing. There is tons of bleeding on all the mics, because everything is within an arms lenght of each other. I am going to buy 3 more of these pre amps!
