I know you've already been asked hundreds of times but I'm such a big fan of your work with Elliott Smith and I have to ask you a couple of questions.
1. mic placement on vocals. Are they close miking? Multiple microphones? And what kind of mics?
2. Compressor on the vocals. I read you were using distressor and 1176's. Is it hard compressing to pull up his whispers? What were the settings(difficult q, I know)? Great work has been done anyway, can hear the voice kind of distorting in a warm way on the higher frequencies, very cool.
3. What kind of eq has been done to the vox? All harmonies and double-tracked voices are very well seperated. How? Compliments.
4. Overheads. What kind of compressors have you used? Long attack and release times, revolver style?
