We've had sampling for a loooong time - it's not today's technology. Emulation, now that's a different story.
I've put Arturia's Moog against a real Moog MANY times (I have both in the same studio) and while the real thing is better (a touch warmer and fatter), Arturia's emulation is incredibly close. In 2010, there are a slew of great emulations available to us by some ingenious designers.
