That should not be heavy lifting for somebody who knows which end of a soldering iron to hold.

The THAT chop set is probably over kill.. since you don't care (much) about the the sound quality when ducked, some fets in shunt mode are probably adequate. The level from the GPS may not be loud enough to trigger the FETs with a simple diode circuit so maybe a simple one transistor gain stage on the GPS feed to amp it up loud enough to turn on the FETs when rectified.
