I created another thread earlier on about looking for a new synth to which Derp kindly gave me good advice (part of which I took by buying a Virus Ti desktop). At that point I didn't think I wanted a Voyager, but yesterday at the store I found that I enjoyed messing with it much more than the Prophet 08 (polyphony aside).

I've been offered a used one in good condition for £1,500 ($2300) but I think its made before Aug 2005 and my understanding is that you need a hardware upgrade ($360) to run the new OS.

Is it worth getting a Voyager Performer of this period, assuming I'll likely not spend the cash to get the upgrade?

And if there are any Voyager/Prophet 08 lovers & haters that want to chime in before I dump cash into the new beast, please do. I'd love to hear any thoughts.
